Non EU companies who offer goods or services to EU citizens and who control or process their personal data, must also be GDPR compliant. Some countries such as New Zealand have data protection laws broadly similar to GDPR and for companies based in such countries, compliance will not be too problematic. Other countries have put in place special measures (which may be only temporary) such as the EU-US Privacy Shield, however these are not as robust as GDPR and should not be relied upon.
We consult all over the globe and we are happy to advise non EU overseas companies on how best to become GDPR compliant in order for them to continue to trade within the EU. This includes help in the setting up of a EU place of business. Much of our work can often be done remotely, lessening the cost for you, though we are very happy to visit you at your base.
